specifically soils, climate, topography, geology and hydrology to deduce land potential for specific use and management thereof. The focus is on soil science and
agronomy with the objectives of recording, mapping and interpreting
agroecosystems and making recommendations for specific land use under rainfed
and irrigated conditions. Industry focus
is:
• Agriculture - sugarcane, upland and paddy rice, macadamia, avocado, citrus, grain crops and vegetables. Value-added services are the derivation of agricultural land suitability (rainfed and irrigated), crop establishment (land preparation, soil nutrition and fertilisation), crop yield modelling and and soil impact assessments.
• Commercial afforestation – land suitability, site/species matching, soil nutrition, soil erodibility and land use planning.
• Mining - rehabilitation planning.
• Rural sector - livelihood restoration for farmers affected by a change in land use.
• Environment – soil surveys in support of land use changes, land rehabilitation and wetland delineation.
Project investigations cover a few hectares to more than a million hectares. Studies are conducted at exploratory through to detail scale and are objective dependent. Our reports are scientifically relevant and are supported by GIS map coverage and applications.
Keith Snyman & Associates has traded uninterrupted for more than three decades, servicing some 200 clients and counting. Our services have been commissioned in 22 countries. More than 2000 reports have been compiled. The consultancy is led by Keith Snyman who is a registered practicing soil scientist and supported by numerous professional associates who are experts in their field of practice.
